road to hana

we did it.  we drove to hana.  it took us all day.  it was the longest, windiest, nutiest drive.

the payoff was the black sand beach we hit right before hana.  BLACK SAND people.  it was crazy.  the water was not swimmable. huge waves, crashing hard.  we sat on the beach and watched people get in and get tossed around.  the sand was just incredible, so black.

we found a sea cave that lead out to the water.  there were giant holes in the ceiling of the cave that let in amazing natural light.  we snapped some shots and got out of there as the waves would come up and in the cave.  i am sure it fills as the tide comes in.  super cool.

Jessica- You guys did it! We heard it was worth the time to do the drive. Can't wait to hear more about it. I noticed you went to Haleakala too. Wasn't that fanstastic? Enjoy the warm weather for us!

"It's a journey, not a destination" Is that what everybody kept telling you? That's what they told us and we loved it. We used "Maui Revealed" to show us some hidden hikes on the way there that were amazing. Love that place!
